Advisor Revenue Splits
Advisors who manage their own books of business, following the more traditional career path, will earn a percentage of their revenue as their primary income.
We want this page to be as useful as possible for Advisors examining their options in the industry. There are many different iterations of the Advisor compensation model being developed as the industry evolves and grows. However, from our experience, these three categories will broadly cover industry standards for the three core types of relationships Advisors can have with their Firms.
Employee Advisors
Employee Advisors work within a Firm environment which supplies everything they need to manage a successful business, with W2 compensation, employee benefits, and the majority of their business expenses covered by the Firm.
Independent Tuck-In Advisors
Independent tuck-in Advisors operate as independent contractors within a team of like-minded Advisors, offering the independence to go their own way where they see fit, but sharing ideas and office space, as well as other expenses, easing the pressure of independence.
Independent Firm Owners
Entrepreneurial minded Advisors will eventually want their own Firm and operate under their own unique brand. These Advisors enjoy the highest level of gross revenue but are solely responsible for overseeing (and paying for) everything their Firm needs to succeed.
